A Living History Presentation
In this costumed, living history presentation, Tim King, portraying the bombastic James McNeil Whistler, comments on various aspects of the artist's colorful life, including his West Point days; his book, The Gentle Art of Making Enemies; and his relationships with his mother, his wife, his brother-in-law, the etcher Seymour Haden, the art critics of his day; and author Oscar Wilde. Mr. King uses two of Whistler's paintings, Nocturne in Black and Gold: The Falling Rockets and Arrangement in Gray and Black: Portrait of the Artist's Mother to illustrate some of Whistler's theories and influences. The audience is treated to an exciting look into the life of one who is described as a "rock star" of his time. Adult and high school audiences.
