“Live Lyrics!: Interpretive Poetry” is an awesome interactive workshop that provides a platform for aspiring writers and established poets to write powerful pieces about breath-taking visual art, and share their work with an audience of art lovers. This is a poetry reading with a twist! Join “LOVE the poet” for an opportunity to embrace visual art, learn about different styles of poetry, write your own poems, and read your work.


Michelle “LOVE the poet” Nelson is a passionate poet, counselor, and teacher. As a vocal advocate for at- risk youth, Michelle has been educating and counseling this population of young people for the past four years. By combining education and experience with energetic spoken word poetry she has captivated the minds of young audiences with performance and creative writing workshops. Michelle is the 2005 recipient of the “Ms. Poetry” People’s Poetry Award and a four time National Underground Spoken Word Awards nominee. She is also the host and promoter of “Spoken Serenity…Be Free Fridays” a monthly open mic event in Baltimore, MD, an active member of Poetry for the People Baltimore (P4PB), and Founder of justlovepoetryink, LLC.
