Patricia Reber presents a virtual visual tour of Maryland's historic kitchens, capturing the stories of cooks and the technology of cooking in the Free State from open-hearths at St. Mary's City to Hampton's stew stove to the basement kitchen at Belair Mansion with its fireless cooker. Patricia Bixler Reber is a food historian and open-hearth cook whose research focuses on Maryland’s culinary history. She has taught hearth cooking and authored several works on food history and culture. She earned a Masters of Library and Information Science from the University of Pittsburgh.
