COOKING IN MARYLAND: FROM OPEN-HEARTH TO FIRELESS COOKER

Patricia Reber presents a virtual visual tour of Maryland's historic kitchens, capturing the stories of cooks and the technology of cooking in the Free State from open-hearths at St. Mary's City to Hampton's stew stove to the basement kitchen at Belair Mansion with its fireless cooker. Reber will have unusual ingredients and cooking tools on hand for demonstration. What's more, she's willing to share some of Maryland's favorite recipes! Adult and high school audiences. Patricia Bixler Reber is a food historian and open-hearth cook whose research focuses on Maryland’s culinary history. She has taught hearth cooking and authored several works on food history and culture. She earned a Masters of Library and Information Science from the University of Pittsburgh.
