AMERICA'S PATRIOTIC MUSIC FROM THE REVOLUTION TO SEPTEMBER 11

Stories, pictures, and music depict the fascinating history of well known American songs - from 'Yankee Doodle Dandy' and 'The Star-Spangled Banner' to 'God Bless America' and 'Tie a Yellow Ribbon Round the Old Oak Tree'. This audiovisual presentation by Ed Okonowicz examines the composers and origins of America's best patriotic songs, including music inspired by the events of 9/11. Requires screen or blank wall. (Speaker provides projector and equipment for Power Point presentation.) Adult and high school audiences.

Ed Okonowicz is Adjunct Professor at the University of Delaware, where he teaches folklore, journalism, and communication courses. He is the author of twenty-three books and feature writer of more than 800 articles for newspapers and magazines. He is also a well known storyteller of folk tales, legends, myths, and contemporary stories. Mr. Okonowicz has a Master of Arts in communication from the University of Delaware.
