THE DREAM REVISITED / REALIZED

Dr. Jeffrey Q. McCune, Jr. uses dramatic readings from selected works by Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. to gain insight into the historical moment as well as to draw parallels to contemporary issues. The audience and speaker will go on an engaging, fun, and intellectually stimulating journey backwards and forwards, to explore the legacy of Dr. King. McCune actively encourages audience discussion about racial issues through personal testimony, experiences, and reflections. His presentation will strictly engage issues pertaining to civil rights, contemporary issues of race, and Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Adult and high school audiences. Adaptable for mature middle school audiences.


Dr. Jeffrey Q. McCune, Jr. is Professor of American Studies / Women’s Studies at the University of Maryland, College Park. He is a scholar, actor, writer, director, and singer, who has been delivering Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.’s “I Have a Dream” speech for almost 20 years. He has written and spoken on issues about race and gender, holding a Ph.D. in Performance Studies from Northwestern University.
