Publicizing Your Speakers Bureau Presentation

How do I maximize the impact of my Speakers Bureau presentation?
Consider the following programming suggestions:

Collaborate with other organizations in your area to conduct a community-wide series of presentations, with each organization requesting a separate speaker on a related theme.

Plan your Speakers Bureau presentation in conjunction with annual events, such as Black History Month (February), Women’s History Month (March), book festivals, or local celebrations.

Connect your program to current events that are receiving widespread national attention in the media, such as international conflict, environmental issues, and elections.

Develop a relationship with local media to plan a series to coincide with special feature coverage in the newspaper or on radio and television.

Design a program around a major exhibition or event being offered in your community by a local museum or cultural institution.

Expand your public programming by applying for an Opportunity Grant to support a special project that features a Speakers Bureau presentation.

Incorporate a Speakers Bureau presentation into a library reading and discussion series.

Plan a Speakers Bureau presentation around programming offered by the Maryland Humanities Council, such as our summer Chautauqua or the Council’s special initiative on Democracy.
