Poet's Corner Application Form

For programs taking place between September 1, 2005 and May 31, 2006.

Poet's Corner, a special feature of the Maryland Humanities Council Speakers Bureau, invites museums, libraries, schools, historic sites, cultural institutions, and other nonprofit groups to apply to host a community event with Maryland’s Poet Laureate Michael Glaser.

Hosts will propose a public program that brings Maryland's Poet Laureate to the community to engage the public in experiencing the magic of poetry and exploring the connections between poetry and our everyday lives. Programs may include
a reading and discussion program, using the works of several poets, led by Dr. Glaser
a discussion led by Dr. Glaser, using poems on a central theme (such as nature, family, politics)
a reading by Dr. Glaser followed by the reading of favorite poems by audience members
a program associated with an art exhibit or concert, with a discussion about the intersection of poetry and the arts
a program in conjunction with a festival or other literary series

The Maryland Humanities Council will
schedule an appearance at a mutually convenient time for the host and speaker
pay honorarium and travel expenses for Michael Glaser
