Poetry's Here @ Your Maryland Library

Poetry's Here @ Your Maryland Library is a Maryland Center for the Book (MCFB) program that brings poets and poetry to Maryland public libraries. Poetry's Here builds new audiences for poetry by training library staff to create a “total poetry environment” that includes collection development, displays, and, most importantly, poetry programming.

Look for look for engaging, free poetry programs at each of these partner libraries:
Baltimore County Public Library; Carroll County Public Library; Calvert Library; Cecil County Public Library; Dorchester County Public Library; Enoch Pratt Free Library; Ruth Enlow Library of Garrett County; Harford County Public Library; Howard County Library; Kent County Public Library; Prince George's County Memorial Library; Talbot County Free Library; Washington County Free Library; Wicomico Public Library; Worcester County Library; Maryland State Library for the Blind and Physically Handicapped

Programs that target teens and senior citizens include writing workshops, lectures, poetry performance workshops, memory circles, open-mics, yoga and poetry, poetry book-making, and living history performances.  In addition, partner libraries will augment their poetry collections with new works, both print and audio, of poets spanning generations, writing styles, and ethnic and cultural backgrounds that reflect the diverse world of poetry.

See what events are coming your way with the Poetry’s Here Calendar of Events!

The program is funded by the Institute of Museum and Library Services, LSTA grant funds, through the Division of Library Development & Services, Maryland State Department of Education.
