Donate to MHC to expand participation in Maryland History Day in Prince George's County

It's a 4 for 1 opportunity to 1) support education 2) reduce your taxes 3) get a charitable deduction 4) be recognized in the community!

The Maryland Humanities Council has received an allocation of $24,000 in tax credits to provide an incentive to businesses to donate funds to promote participation in Maryland History Day in Prince George’s County.

Businesses that donate to this project will receive a tax credit worth 50% of the amount donated. The tax credit can be combined with other charitable tax incentives to increase the value of the gift. Donated funds will be used to hire a part-time Maryland History Day coordinator for Prince George’s County.

The coordinator will help middle and high school staff—primarily administrators and social studies teachers—as they encourage students to become Maryland History Day participants. The coordinator also will organize the Prince George’s County contest, which provides students with the opportunity to compete, learn from judges who critique their work, and revise their projects with new insight. The coordinator should be in place by September 2009, to prepare for the 2009/2010 school year.
