FAQ

What is Chautauqua?
Near the Fourth of July each year, MHC brings Chautauqua to seven community colleges in Maryland. At a Chautauqua, scholar/actors portray a historical character for a community audience, complete with costume, props, mannerisms, and accents. After the presentation, the performer answers the audience's questions first in character, then as him- or herself. The event is typically held outdoors, under a tent.
Where do the programs occur?
Chautauqua is presented at seven community colleges in Maryland: Garrett College, Chesapeake College, the College of Southern Maryland, Montgomery College-Germantown, the Community College of Baltimore County, Cecil College, and Wor-Wic Community College.
Are the performances free?

Are your sites handicapped accessible?
