Countdown to Chautauqua!

“What a great way to learn history” -Audience member from Greenbelt.

It’s almost July and that means Chautauqua, our summer-time living history tour across Maryland, is right around the corner. The Maryland Humanities Council brings Chautauqua 2010, Beyond Boundaries, to six locations spanning the state from Garrett County to Cecil County.

“Every once in a while a performer transports me to another era” –Garrett County

Thurgood Marshall, Sacagawea, and Frederick Law Olmsted, Sr. will enthrall audiences with their tales of overcoming barriers and boundaries and will answer audience members’ questions about their lives and accomplishments.

“This activity is a lot of fun and great for our whole family” –Cecil County

Chautauqua devotees bring their families and friends and spread the word. This event is free and open to the public and it’s perfect way to spend a summer night with the people you love.

“This program is very enjoyable for our family, and we LOVE the discussion they prompt.”
