10. Because you care!
You value what humanities programs can do for your community. How else could so many different people come together to discuss ideas?
9. Because you like to talk...and listen!
You want to help us promote state-wide conversations about topics that matter to Marylanders.
8. Because you can!
You feel the need to give something back to your community and you know that MHC will deliver programs and events throughout Maryland.

7. Because you read!
You loved reading James McBride's Song Yet Sung and you'd like to make sure that One Maryland One Book can continue into the next year. And you love seeing kids with books in their hands!
6. Because you attend!
You were there for the "Music of the Movement" with Dr. Bernice Johnson Reagon, Congressman John Lewis, Dr. Tricia Rose, Dr. Portia Maultsby, and the Bowie State University Gospel Choir and witnessed the magic that happens when people get together to remember an important time in our nation's history.
5. Because you're curious!
You attend Chautauqua and you know how wonderful it is to learn from and talk to the speakers that perform each year.
4. Because the children need you!
Your child, your neighbor's child, or family's and friend's children are involved in History Day and Letters About Literature and count on you to make sure they continue to learn from these programs.
3. Because it feels good!
You know how nice it is to receive, but that feeling is so much better when you know that your gift is used to help promote programs that educate, inspire and empower you and your neighbors.
2. Because you want to see more . . . more MHC programs and other events supported by MHC Grant Funds!
You love opportunities to take an active part in learning about the Maryland of yesterday and today. And you want to take an active role in building the Maryland of tomorrow.
1. Because you like us!
And why wouldn't you? We promote the only state-wide reading program, create free humanities events like "Music of the Movement" every year through our special initiative, promote History Day so our kids can direct their own independent studies, promote reading discussions at hospitals for our Literature & Medicine program, and make sure that other organizations we partner with are able to promote the humanities through our opportunity grants. What's not to love?
